Meet the Makers
At Mila & Luka Co., every piece in our collection tells a story. Behind each product is a maker — an artisan, a designer, a community — whose craft, values, and vision align with our own. We are proud to partner with brands that create with intention, honour their heritage, and invest in the people behind the work.

Bush Princess
We are thrilled to partner with Bush Princess, a remarkable brand founded by Charlotte Lefebvre, a Swedish designer who fell in love with Kenya and made Nairobi her home in 2007. What makes Bush Princess truly special is its ability to seamlessly blend European design sensibilities with authentic African craftsmanship, resulting in handmade leather bags and accessories that feel both timeless and meaningful.
Based in their workshop in Karen, Nairobi, Bush Princess sources materials locally and responsibly, working with premium leather, suede, and recycled brass. Bush Princess is deeply committed to community empowerment, collaborating with artisans in Kibera and supporting the Beading for Education Program, which celebrates traditional Maasai beadwork while creating sustainable livelihoods.
Every Bush Princess piece in our collection represents more than exceptional craftsmanship — it reflects a shared commitment to thoughtful production, dignified work, and celebrating the extraordinary skill of Kenyan artisans. When you choose Bush Princess, you're investing in design with purpose, where quality, culture, and care come together.
DIADOTA
We are proud to feature DIADOTA, a Nairobi-based homeware studio rooted in a deep appreciation for culture, nature, and Afro Interior Design. Founded by Wandia, DIADOTA was born from a desire to celebrate Africa's rich artistic heritage while embracing a modern, refined aesthetic.
Inspired by moments spent in sunlit gardens and the everyday beauty of Nairobi, DIADOTA's designs reflect a thoughtful connection to land, family, and tradition. Each piece begins as a hand-drawn design, carefully balancing contemporary form with traditional motifs — a signature approach that gives DIADOTA its distinctive character.
Crafted with intention, DIADOTA's wooden homeware honors both artistry and responsibility. The studio is committed to mindful sourcing and considered production, ensuring that every piece feels as good as it looks. At Mila & Luka Co., we are drawn to DIADOTA's mission to reclaim and celebrate African design on the world stage. Every piece in this collection is a celebration of Kenyan creativity — timeless, grounded, and deeply connected to place.
The Baba Tree Basket Company
We are delighted to partner with The Baba Tree Basket Company, a remarkable brand rooted in over 20 years of preserving the weaving traditions of the Gurunsi community in Bolgatanga, Ghana — a remote town in the Upper East Region affectionately known as "the city of baskets."
Founded by Gregory MacCarthy, who first set foot in Ghana in 1999 with a profound belief that good design can change people's lives, The Baba Tree has grown into a thriving community of over 250 artisan weavers. Each basket is handcrafted using elephant grass and a time-honoured technique passed down through generations — every curve, every colour, every weave a signature of the hands that made it.
What makes The Baba Tree truly extraordinary is its unwavering commitment to the people behind the craft. Through the creation of sustainable jobs, fair wages, and meaningful work, the brand continues to generate real social impact in the Gurunsi community.
At Mila & Luka Co., we are drawn to The Baba Tree's belief that basket is functional art — purposeful, beautiful, and deeply human. Every piece in this collection honours a living tradition while creating lasting opportunity for the artisans who bring it to life.

Greenie
We are excited to partner with Greenie, a Cape Town-based brand born in 2020 with a quiet but powerful conviction: that change begins with a single step, and that business can be a force for both environmental and human good.
Founded during one of the most challenging moments in recent history, Greenie emerged from a desire to reimagine what a brand could stand for. At its heart are two driving forces — reducing our collective eco footprint, and uplifting the people and communities who need it most. In a beautiful but deeply unequal society, Greenie believes that no effort is ever too small.
Every Greenie product is handmade in their production facility in Cape Town, crafted from quality materials and want-nots that would otherwise pollute the earth. Their highly skilled production team has refined a manufacturing process that prioritises both sustainability and superior quality — pieces built to last, not to be discarded.
At Mila & Luka Co., we are drawn to Greenie's unwavering commitment to growth and empowerment over profit. When you choose Greenie, you are supporting a brand that invests in people, protects the planet, and proves that conscious business and beautiful design can go hand in hand.
