Collection: Ubuntu Life

Big Love. Shared Humanity. Handcrafted in Maai Mahiu.

Rooted in the profound African philosophy of Ubuntu—"I am because we are"—Ubuntu Life creates vibrant, purposeful pieces that pair bold design with practical utility for work, travel, and everyday life.

What started two decades ago as an act of faith has blossomed into a world-stage lifestyle brand, continuously proving that exceptional craft can deeply transform communities.

The journey began when Co-Founder Zane Wilemon purchased a one-way ticket to Kenya in search of meaning. There, he forged a life-changing partnership with Co-Founder Jeremiah Kuria, leading them to build a dedicated Center to provide medical care and therapy for local children with special needs.

With their children safely cared for, a small group of nine local mothers approached Zane and Jeremiah with a powerful request: "Can you help us do something productive with our time?"

Today, that intimate circle has expanded into a thriving, eco-rehabilitated 11-acre Ubuntu Life Campus on the outskirts of Maai Mahiu, Kenya, providing sustainable, full-time employment, healthcare, and living wages to over 150 skilled Makers.

Every single bag honors this legacy with a signature 36° stitch and a 36° beaded tab—a physical tribute to their home studio located at 1° South, 36° East.

To bring their vibrant textile collections to life, Ubuntu Life also collaborates with a world-renowned network of close to 800 Maasai craftswomen across Kenya's Ngong Hills, preserving ancestral, generational beadwork techniques.

Discover functional canvas totes, utilitarian commuters, and structured carryalls crafted with love in Kenya—and beautifully made to go places.
